Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2024)

91% Tomatometer 119 Reviews 96% Audience Score 1,000+ Ratings A crime drama mixed with healthy doses of the surreal, this series is about FBI Agent Dale Cooper, who travels to the small logging town of Twin Peaks to solve the murder of seemingly innocent high schooler Laura Palmer. Almost nothing is as it seems, however, and the show's sometimes eerie visuals, oddball characters and wild dream sequences drive the point home. Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Candace Sutton Sydney Morning Herald Twin Peaks has many of the elements of a soap opera: it is slow (although not vapid), has a complex plot melodrama and a plethora of disasters. It's the weirdness, the David Lynch trademark which is the lure. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Joanna Murray-Smith The Age (Australia) The show fails for a number of reasons, however, not the least being that while Twin Peaks is often engrossing television, it is rarely emotional. It does not make us feel. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Dennis Pryor The Age (Australia) It is simply a ripper of a soap opera. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Elisa Guimarães Collider Weird, picturesque... Feb 1, 2024 Full Review Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) John Powers L.A. Weekly Lynch and Frost have put a new spin on traditional storytelling, nothing more, and I'm responding as I should. I want to see what's going to happen next. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Twin Peaks: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) James Endrst Hartford Courant Often bizarre, always quirky, sometimes dark and cryptic yet surprisingly humorous, it is a show the likes of which viewers have never seen. Tommy H The first few episodes hit you with all sorts of emotions, and the strange acting had me cracking up. But, gotta admit, it dragged on a bit. In my opinion, it just didn't quite live up to the hype of being one of the all-time great shows. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/07/24 Full Review Aleksander S There's a polish saying, which when translated goes something like this: "peaceful village, happy village". The tiny town of Twin Peaks is a perfect setup for the David Lynch's vision. Vision which is happy, sad, disturbing, scary and surreal. Amazing cast, captivating story telling and touch of magic. What else could you ask from a crime series... Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review HoN L an absolute experience!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Ally Moore J This fires on all fronts when at it's best. The style is just right for the themes familiar with neo-noir type movies. No one-dimensional characters giving everyone has their own quirks. Unintentionally funny. The characters are fully fleshed out. The acting is very decent. Most frequently the situations at hand seem to end up surreal. Some details are left for you to comprehend. At last, the mystery is really interesting to say the least. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/26/23 Full Review Georgan G Unsure why this series was so popular. The supernatural part was bad enough, but there were so many characters I could not keep them straight. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Gareth v Original, haunting, funny, one of the best tv shows ever made. The David Lynch and Mark Frost partnership have produced one of the most groundbreaking shows of all time.
